LDtk: everything is here


I am currently reading a little into HaxeFlixel and Heaps. For future projects, I want to switch to one of them (I have not yet decided which one). It will be easier to have my games open-source.

During this journey, I (finally) found https://ldtk.io/ which is a wonderful level editor. I have used Tiled a few times, but LDtk is truly a gem. It does all the things that I wanted to add to nevendia already: parallax backgrounds (even renders it accordingly in the editor), it has a GridVania mode (!!!) and it is able to separate all levels/rooms into separate files. With the super simple export I should be able to get worlds created with LDtk into nevendia in no time.

There is no word to describe how I feel finding this thing. So forget the audio stuff I wanted to add: The level editor I made will be ditched completely (bye everything I made so far) and I will adapt the code to import LDtk JSON exports from now on.

Maybe there is also a good possibility to simplify the character/enemy modding process.

All of this for free/donations/pay-what-you-want... my god, we live in crazy times.
